THE CLOTHING DESIGN INDUSTRY

Design of garments and ranges in various contexts:
Commercial: designing ranges or collections for retailers.
Couture: designing collections for individual clients.
Boutiques: designing collections for independent concerns.

ENTREPRENEURSHIP

Starting one's own business designing and making clothes to clients' individual requirements of for supply to retail outlets or boutiques.

PATTERNMAKING/GRADING

Employment in the clothing manufacturing industry assigning manufactures with the construction of fitted patterns and sized ratios.

THE TEXTILE INDUSTRY

Sourcing and buying of fabrics for the manufacturing industry. Coordinating textiles in the design context.

FASHION BUYING AND MARKETING

Assisting retailers to keep abreast of current trends and developments in the fashion scene, and the buying in and marketing of those ranges.

COSTUME

The design and co-ordination of costumes for theater and film.

ILLUSTRATION & GRAPHICS

Fashion illustrations and graphic layouts for magazines, retail catalogues and patterns, newspapers, fashion shows etc.

FASHION PHOTOGRAPHY

Managing the full photo shoot procedures, art direction, styling & editing.
